Golden Sands & Ocean Views: Rediscovering Lanzarote in Style
It’s been a long time since I visited Lanzarote, but we were looking forward to a 2-centre stay on this very popular island to recharge the batteries and take some long overdue time out.
It didn’t disappoint!
Our first stop was Dreams Lanzarote Playa Dorada, located in the southern town of Playa Blanca, where the golden sands and turquoise waters set the tone for a dreamy island retreat. Just steps from the beach, this property is suitable for families, couples, solo travellers and friends and welcomes you with its elegant, modern design and a warm Canarian breeze. Whether lounging by one of the lagoon-style pools or unwinding in the spa, every corner invites you to relax.
Days here were spent wandering the picturesque marina and soaking in the sea views from our balcony. In the evening, the resort’s international buffet delivers a rotating menu of gourmet options—from fresh seafood to vibrant Mediterranean fare—alongside à la carte experiences like Bluewater Grill for premium cuts and World Café for global flavours.
Outside the resort, Playa Blanca offers hidden gems such as La Chalanita and Casual Seafood, perfect for a romantic seafood dinner overlooking the sea.
Midway through our trip, we moved along the coast to the tranquil marina village of Puerto Calero and Secrets Lanzarote Resort & Spa, an adults-only five-star haven with an atmosphere of calm sophistication.
This is where luxury truly elevates. The suites are plush and private, with sweeping ocean views and private terraces and we made the most of our stay in one of their beautiful swim-up suites. Days were spent poolside with a cocktail in our hands as well as enjoying holistic treatments in the Secrets Spa by Natura Bissé.
Evenings were spent lingering over long, elegant meals choosing from gourmet à la carte restaurants like Portofino (Italian), Oceana (seafood), or Himitsu (Pan-Asian) and after dinner we enjoyed drinks on the terrace and low-key shows with live music.
The nearby marina also boasts some superb dining options, including Amura—widely considered one of the island’s finest dining spots, with a focus on modern Canarian cuisine and fine wines.
Both Dreams Lanzarote Playa Dorada and Secrets Lanzarote offer bed and breakfast, half-board and all-inclusive stays and it’s also worth considering upgrading to their Preferred Club where benefits include access to a dedicated club lounge, personalised check-in/check-out, upgraded room amenities, and a private pool area, among other perks.
Our Lanzarote holiday was a perfect blend of relaxation, luxury, and culinary delight, paired with two of its finest resorts. We’ll be back!
