Girls Trip to Brussels and Amsterdam
When my best friends and I were looking for a fun European getaway, Brussels and Amsterdam quickly rose to the top of our list. We couldn’t resist the allure of Belgian waffles, Dutch canals, and the opportunity to explore two distinctly charming cities just a short train/bus ride apart. Let me tell you, this girls trip did not disappoint!
Our adventure began in Brussels, the capital of Belgium and heart of the European Union. From the moment we arrived, the city’s unique architecture and ambiance captivated us. We spent our days wandering through the grandiose Grand Place, marveling at the ornate guild houses and the iconic Town Hall that dates back to the 15th century. Of course, no visit to Brussels would be complete without a stop at the legendary Manneken Pis – the cheeky little statue that has become the city’s beloved emblem.
However, the real highlight of our Brussels experience was the food. We happily indulged in piping hot Belgian waffles drizzled with chocolate, powdered sugar, and fresh berries from street vendors. And let’s not forget the crispy frites (fries) with a variety of delectable dipping sauces – a quintessential Belgian treat!
As the sun set over the city’s Gothic spires, we embraced Brussels’ lively nightlife scene by joining an energetic pub crawl. Meeting fellow travelers from around the world, we danced the night away and even found ourselves belting out tunes at a karaoke bar until the early hours. Brussels truly knows how to party!
After bidding farewell to Belgium’s capital, we hopped on a bus and made our way to the charming city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Upon arrival, we were immediately captivated by the picturesque canals, the gentle sway of houseboats, and the effortless cool of the Dutch locals gliding by on bicycles.
To soak in the city’s rich history, we embarked on a canal tour, learning about Amsterdam’s fascinating past as a thriving trade hub and cultural melting pot. Our guide regaled us with tales of the city’s Golden Age, pointing out architectural gems.
In between museum visits and canal cruises, we indulged in the city’s trendy shopping scene, scouring the quirky boutiques and vintage shops that line the narrow streets.
As we bid farewell to Amsterdam and reflected on our incredible girls trip, we couldn’t help but feel grateful for the memories we created together. From the historical wonders and culinary delights to the lively nightlife and friendly locals, Brussels and Amsterdam left an indelible mark on our hearts. Here’s to more adventures with my best friends in the future!
